Conditions We Treat

We provide comprehensive care for conditions affecting the brain and central nervous system, including Alzheimer’s disease, dementia, and other memory disorders. Our neurologists diagnose and manage epilepsy, seizures, and autoimmune conditions such as multiple sclerosis (MS). We also help patients prevent and recover from strokes and transient ischemic attacks (TIAs) through early detection, rehabilitation, and long-term management.

CLS Health treats movement disorders such as Parkinson’s disease and essential tremor using medications and advanced options like deep brain stimulation (DBS) therapy. We also specialize in neuromuscular conditions, including myasthenia gravis, myopathy, and other diseases that cause muscle weakness or fatigue. Our team works to restore mobility, balance, and independence through individualized treatment plans.

Our neurologists diagnose and manage chronic headaches, migraines, and neuropathy (nerve damage causing numbness or tingling). We also treat Bell’s palsy, vertigo, and balance disorders that can affect daily life and mobility. At CLS Health, we combine medication management, physical therapy, and minimally invasive procedures to relieve pain and restore comfort.

We help patients with nerve compression syndromes such as carpal tunnel, cervical radiculopathy (neck pain), and lumbar radiculopathy (sciatica). Our specialists use targeted imaging and testing to identify the source of nerve pain and design effective treatment plans. When appropriate, we integrate physical therapy, medications, and minimally invasive procedures to promote recovery and function.

Procedures & Tests

Our neurology team offers advanced therapies such as deep brain stimulation (DBS) and vagus nerve stimulation (VNS) to help manage Parkinson’s disease, tremors, epilepsy, and depression. We also provide specialized interventional pain management for nerve-related disorders, ensuring comfort and improved quality of life through precise, evidence-based care.

CLS Health performs comprehensive nerve and brain function testing, including evoked response (SSER), visual evoked response (VER), and brainstem auditory evoked response (BAER) for seizure monitoring. We also conduct somatosensory (SSER), visual (VER), and brainstem auditory (BAER) evoked response tests to evaluate nerve pathways and brain activity. These advanced diagnostics help our neurologists pinpoint causes of symptoms with accuracy.

We use FDA-approved Botox injections and occipital nerve blocks to treat chronic migraines and headaches. For spinal nerve compression and back pain, we offer lumbar epidural steroid injections that reduce inflammation and improve mobility. These targeted treatments provide effective, lasting relief without surgery.

Our specialists perform advanced diagnostics like epidermal nerve fiber density (ENFD) skin biopsies to identify small fiber neuropathy and other subtle nerve disorders. We also evaluate and manage spinal compression fractures using minimally invasive techniques to relieve pain and prevent further injury. Each test and procedure is performed with precision and patient comfort in mind.

FAQs

  • Dementia is a general term for cognitive decline that affects memory, thinking, and reasoning.
  • Alzheimer’s disease is the most common type of dementia, characterized by progressive memory loss, confusion, and behavioral changes

While dementia can result from various conditions, Alzheimer’s is a specific brain disease that worsens over time.

A stroke requires immediate medical attention. Remember FAST

  • F – Facial drooping
  • A – Arm weakness
  • S – Speech difficulty
  • T – Time to call 911

Other signs include sudden numbness, confusion, vision problems, dizziness, and severe headache. Seeking emergency care quickly can prevent long-term damage.

Consider seeing a neurologist if you experience:

  • Frequent or severe headaches/migraines
  • Chronic dizziness, vertigo, or balance issues
  • Unexplained numbness, tingling, or weakness
  • Memory loss or cognitive decline
  • Seizures or loss of consciousness
  • Persistent nerve pain or muscle weakness

A neurologist can help diagnose underlying conditions and recommend appropriate treatment.

Migraines often include throbbing pain on one side of the head, sensitivity to light and sound, nausea, and sometimes visual disturbances (auras). Unlike tension headaches, migraines are more severe and can last from a few hours to several days

Botox for migraines is an FDA-approved treatment that involves injecting botulinum toxin into specific areas of the head and neck to block pain signals and reduce migraine frequency. It is typically recommended for patients with chronic migraines (15+ headache days per month) and provides relief by relaxing muscles and decreasing nerve activity.

Multiple Sclerosis (MS) symptoms vary but often include fatigue, numbness, tingling, muscle weakness, vision problems, dizziness, balance issues, and cognitive difficulties. Some individuals may experience spasticity, bladder dysfunction, or mobility challenges. Symptoms can be mild or severe and often fluctuate in intensity.

Neuropathy symptoms depend on the affected nerves but commonly include numbness, tingling, burning pain, muscle weakness, and sensitivity to touch. Peripheral neuropathy often starts in the hands and feet, progressing over time. Severe cases may cause loss of coordination or difficulty walking

Myopathy is a muscle disease that affects muscle strength and function. It can be caused by genetic conditions, autoimmune disorders, infections, or metabolic issues. Symptoms include muscle weakness, fatigue, cramping, and difficulty with movement. Common types include muscular dystrophy, inflammatory myopathies (like polymyositis), and metabolic myopathies

Lumbar radiculopathy, also known as sciatica, is treated with physical therapy, anti-inflammatory medications, epidural steroid injections, and in severe cases, surgery. Treatments aim to relieve nerve compression, reduce pain, and restore mobility.

  • Syncope (fainting) is a temporary loss of consciousness due to decreased blood flow to the brain.
  • Presyncope is the feeling of near-fainting without actually losing consciousness, often accompanied by dizziness, weakness, or lightheadedness.

Both can be caused by low blood pressure, heart conditions, or neurological disorders, and evaluation by a doctor is recommended if episodes are frequent.
